Well 2005 is an active year for me in Photography though proffessionally I don't have much photography gig for the year except for the first quarter of 2005 were I shot 2 big events. But I have lots personal project. I did a number of roadtrips and shot some of the events at the office.

Teletech Christmas Party

Last Sunday December 18 2005 was our Company's Christmas party. Of course I was again the chosen one to shoot the event. It was a fun task partying and shooting then drinking at the same time. Well the booze overflow and there were lots of dancing people. I manage to squeeze in the middle of the dance floor to shoot some guys and babes having fun.

Cock Fighting

Last weekend I was treated to a new experience, "Cock Fighting". We'll my brother in Law brought me to Cock Fighting Arena in Taal, Batangas. It was my first time to enter one. The atmosphere inside is what you can say chaotic because of the shouting. Its only there where you can see two total strangers closing a bet with just a wave of a hand and wink of an eyebrow.
Of course to feel the excitement of the game I enter a bet of few hundred bucks which luckily I won.
Well because of the crowd I could not go closer to the fighting ring to take a shot of the action. So I manage to shoot few shootof the incident happening inside (most the crowd there don't want to have their picture taken). So here what I got.

Paete Road trip

Just got back from my Paete, Laguna road trip with fellow Phphoto member. Actually its just a quick half day road trip. We met around 11:30 AM in Jo Avila's studio at Greenhills then we left around 12:00 PM.

Our route to Paete is via Rizal Province (Antipolo,Tanay,Angono,Baras etc)we arrived in Paete around 2:00PM we parked in Paete Church. I started shooting in the Church first shooting then Church facade then the interiors. I really didn't shoot much inside the interiors it is dark I manage to shoot some children praying with the light coming from the church window (which is my favorite picture of this trip see below) and couple of shoot of the Altar thanks to Dodie for letting me used his tripod.

After shooting at the we walk a little further downtown to shoot some wood carver for which this town is famous for. According to the wood carver we talk to the town was named after the tool "Paet" chiesel they used to do wood carving.



We only stayed in Paete for a couple of hours and left around 4:00 PM because e have be at Pililia, Laguna before 5:00PM in order to catch the sunset overlooking Laguna de Bay. While on the way to Pililia we have a brief stopover because some of my companions bought miniature houses (see photos below).



I was able to shoot a number of shots of the sunset on my SLR and on my P&S digicam but the focal length of my P&S are not wide enough to capture the whole area. Just can't wait to have the slides processed and scan so I can post it online.

Facade Perspective in Mirror View

I was on my way home from work. When I pass by this mirror (Its the mirror used by security people to inspect under the vehicle for bombs terrorist threat makes everyone paranoid nowadays) I noticed the reflection of the building facade on the mirror. So I took again few shots as always with my trustworthy toy of course after arranging the mirror a little bit to get the shot I wanted. This is my choice shot.

Children at Play

Here are pictures of Children playing at the fountain outside the Mall. I was fascinated by their care free attitude while playing with water that they don't care going home in wet clothes.

Passageway that nobody passes

I passed by this gate everyday on my way home. So it didn't escape my eye once again, so I took a shot of this gate. I never seen this gate opens looks like nobody is passing through here.

Greenbelt Chapel

I was at Greenbelt 3 last Saturday to meet some friends. From Glorietta I walk to Greenbelt 3 passing by Greenbelt park and the chapel was in the middle of it. Can't help but to bring out my Camera and took a couple of shot. Luckily there were no guards that stop me or look for a permit. Maybe because I'm using a compact digicam.

For me this picture represents 3 choices I have to made. Its either "Go to Work", "Go to the Mall" or "Go Home to rest".

We used to call him cyclops, but now everyone at the office call him "TELECAT' . This cat has been loitering the office grounds for almost 2 years now.

Three weeks ago the right piece of my Ipod headset won't on dinging sound or as to describe it better it called "tunog lata" its really annoying specially if you turn up the the volume and theres a lot of bass on your music.
So I purchase a third party brand headset the not so expensive one but not that cheapo type. Well sound quality is good but the original headset sounds better. So I'm planning to buy a new headset for Ipod I'm thingking of the rectractable type for organize safe keeping I always untangle the cable of my headset everytime I bring it out from my bag (It always been this way since the Discman days).
I was in Apple center megamall the other daylooking for a headset I was choosing to buy an apple headset which cost around 2K. (Wow 2k for a headset) or an Altec Lansing which cost about 1K.
The staff in Apple center was very accomodating so I mentioned to her what happened to my headset. Then I heard the good news that headset is included on the warranty and they will replace it provided there are no physial damage. Just present the receipt I mentioned to her that my Ipod was not purchased in the Philippines well they said that they willstill honor it. Wow thats really good news. I remember another electronic gadgets were the local supplier will not honor the warranty if the item was not purchased in the Philippines so much for international warranty.
So I went back to Apple center this afternoon and bring my defective headset and present to them the receipt. So my headset will be replace but I have to wait for 3 weeks. Its ok I still have my othe headset at least I was able to save around 2K. FYI the staff in Apple told me that the problem of my headset is very common to Ipod headset and that they have replaced lots of it.
Can't wait to have my new headset in 3 weeks.

While i'm inside Apple center can't help to drool over Ipod photo.

Starbucks coffee cup shot one lazy afternoon.

FM Transmitter for Ipod

For all those want to buy Itrip to connect their Ipod on their Car Audio system. I just recently a cheaper altenative to Itrip its brand Coby well according to Reich my officemate who introduced me to this gadget she purchased from "Pricemart" at less than 1K (yes less folks than 1K) according to her it has 2 models one that you have to plug in to your car cigarrette lighter for power source and the other will have to use AAA batteries to have its power (I prefer the former).
So I have a chance to test its Audio quality. When I rode on her Car last Sunday and plug it to my Mini, well audio quality is not bad after all I may say it a little above average but not superior quality.
One thing good about this. That its not really for Ipod only you can plog it to any portable player (Discman, other MP3 player etc.).
Other option will be a Cassette adapter which is definitely cheaper than the others. But hey most new cars today don't have cassette players anymore but if you still have cassette palyer on your car audio system i suggest you use this.

When I'm about to leave my house a little after lunchtime I noticed that the clouds was kinda dark. O-oh there it goes, Well I was right. I was barely 200 meters away from home the rain suddenly pours. It just not pour, it pours so hard.
So I head to the nearest SBC and have another cup of coffee and a honey glaze donut and listen to the latest tunes in my Ipod while waiting for the rain to stop. Well my purpose for the day was not spoiled after all I was able to shoot some pics while inside SBC from the coffee cups with the aid of window light, to some of the people inside enjoying their coffee while having conversations while others doing their thing. I have to be discreet so no SLR and flash for this so I used my P&S and rely on available light.
The rain did stop as expected so eventualy I did not proceed w/ my outdoor shoot as plan. Damn its 2 days in a row maybe if I'll try again on my next off.

Woke up late today , damn those DVD watching marathon did last night. While waiting for my coffee to finish brewing in my Coffee maker I'll go online first to write something. I'll be going out later this afternoon to drive around and hopefully to shoot some picture. I'm hoping that the weather will cooperate today to fully end my 3 day restday and to return to work tommorow and back to reality.

There goes my Monday. My plan for some serious photography didn't push thru. My errands didn't finish as planned. I went to SSS in the morning to process some papers that my wife ask me to do for the longest time. I will not tell you the waiting time at goverment office. To give you an idea. I listened to about 40 songs in my ipod so you'll have an idea how long is it. Then I have to go to Manila to run another errands for my in-laws. Good thing i didn't bring my car (too lazy to drive and Fuel prices are really starting to rip off my pocket) .

LRT ride from Cubao to Manila takes only 15 minutes and without dealing with the heat and traffic. I thought I'll finish all before 5:00 pm have enough time to go to intramuros or the Bay area to do some shooting. But all the things i have to do didn't finish till 6:00 PM so my plan didn't push thru well i shot couple of frame of my wife's nephew while having his dinner (Post the pics later.)

Well tommorow is still my off and not much things to do. Maybe I'll do some serious photography tommorow.

Shooting Pics

Today is the second day of my three day off. Hopefully I will have a chance to shoot some pics its been quite a while since i did some serious shooting. What i did in the past weeks is take some snap shot of anything i see using my P&S digicam. Well time to pack my SLR and do some shooting. Hopefully I'll finisf some of my errands early today so I can spend the rest of the day going around to shooting. Wish me luck.

Picture I'm proud of

This is one of the picture I shot that I'm really proud of. I won grand in a photography contest at our office a year ago with this picture as my entry.
Well this picture was not really plan to be shot. I was schedule to shoot a portrait of this girl. But it was already late in the afternoon and it was nap time for her so we can't get her to pose for a portrait of course she was in sleeping mood already. So we let her take her nap when she is about to snooze off I find her looking at me while lying on her bed and her facial expression was so awesome that I can lat it just slip. So I make a couple of shot using B&W film. And bounce the light from my flash from the low ceiling above to diffuse the light.
